Murder Mystery Dinner

A fully customised, narrative-driven card game created for a private murder-mystery dinner. The project blends UI/UX thinking, storytelling, and graphic design to build a playful yet structured offline experience. The goal was to design clear character identities, readable clues, and an intuitive narrative flow—turning a simple dinner into an interactive story.

Creative Direction · UI/UX for Physical Experience · Storytelling & Graphic Design

This mini-project started as a simple idea for a dinner with friends, but quickly turned into a full interactive experience combining UI/UX thinking, storytelling, and graphic design. I created a complete set of custom cards, characters, motives, clues, and narrative paths, and approached the process similarly to a digital product: clear information hierarchy, intentional layout, and a structure that guides players through the story intuitively. Each visual choice, from typography to colour accents, was designed to support quick scanning and enhance immersion.

The result was a surprisingly dynamic and very funny night. Watching everyone interact with the cards, connect the clues, and bring the characters to life showed how effective structured storytelling can be, even in a physical format. This project became a good reminder that thoughtful design works anywhere, digital or not, as long as the experience feels coherent, engaging, and easy to follow.

Key Outcomes

• Delivered a complete, customisable murder-mystery card game used in a real social setting.
• Created a clear narrative flow that supported player engagement and improvisation.
• Demonstrated how UX principles can enhance offline, physical experiences.

Skills & Focus Areas

• Narrative design and structured storytelling
• Visual design for print (card layouts, hierarchy, typography)
• User experience thinking applied to physical interactions
• Rapid prototyping and creative direction
